Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli, SUN

The Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli SUN was founded in 1991 and now it counts 30.000 students and 1000 people as academic staff organized in 19 departments/faculties. A characteristic of the SUN is the distribution of the departments and laboratories in several towns of the Region Campania (Aversa, Capua, Caserta, S. Maria Capua Vetere, Napoli) and inside historical buildings of these towns. SUN has a rich International program and attracts students (Erasmus), young researchers and visiting professors from all over the world.
The Department of Architecture is in Aversa and it offers several Bachelor, Master and PhD program/courses in Architecture and Industrial Design. Within this Department is the Competence Regional Centre for Cultural, Ecology and Economy ÒBENECONÓ affiliated with UNESCO.
The Built Environment Control Lab RiAS is also inside the Department of Architecture. It promotes interdisciplinary research projects on built environment and includes five interconnected areas: Ecogeometry and Territory Representation, Acoustics and Vibration, Energy and lighting,
Urban planning and Testing Structures. The Lab has a lot of up to date research facilities (controlled rooms, equipments, software).
In particular for the Acoustic and Vibration area the lab is one of the most equipped and leading laboratory in Italy, it counts 10 researchers (staff and PhD students) and it is involved in several international research and didactic projects. All facilities are made available to Master and PhD students for their final thesis and/or researches. The structure complies with the Quality Management System according to the UNI EN ISO 9001-2000(ISO 9001-2000).
